Getting Gauge
August 28, Thursday 6–8pm
Everything you ever wanted to know about gauge will be answered in this class. Understanding and “getting gauge” is the most important step for your knitting projects to be successful. It will also ensure the proper fit of any knitted project. Understanding gauge will allow you learn how to design your own garments, to substitute alternative yarns, or change the style. Come to this class and you can say “I get gauge”.

Intarsia 101

September 16, Tuesday 6–8pm
Intarsia can also be called "picture knitting". It involves knitting with multiple colors, but it is not the same as Fair Isle knitting. For Fair Isle knitting, two colors are carried across an entire row, resulting in an extra-thick fabric. For Intarsia knitting, you work with one color at a time, switching colors as you go across a row, maintaining a fabric of single thickness. Learn this great technique, adding color to you knitting!

Knit Fix

August 7, Thursday 6–8pm
Do you know how to rip? Frog? Fix mistakes? Tink? Fix dropped stitches? Take this class and you will be able to identify mistakes and fix them without aggravation and frustration. Learn the anatomy of stitches, how to fix them and much more!!

Swing Shaw

Knit in contrasting shades this shimmering shell-stitch shawl by Berroco adds a bit of sparkle with jeans or evening apparel. Learn how to lace knit, pick up stitches, and create this beautiful, unique shawl. Sample on display at store.

Cashmere Moebius Cowl

Learn this exciting technique created by Cat Bordhi. This magical way of knitting will fascinate you. This lace cowl is soft, cozy and adds to any wardrobe. It’s a blast to knit and makes perfect gifts for the holiday. Samples are on display at the shop.

Lacey Fingerless Glove

September 4 & 11, Thursday 6–8pm
These gloves are a lacey, soft and feminine, made in baby alpaca. This very fashionable glove is made using several knitting techniques so there’s a lot to learn. Learn how to add a picot edge, work lace, create a thumb gusset, add a life-line, the mattress stitch and more!

Short Row Cable Baby Bibs

Oh my…. these are the cutest. Great for baby shower gifts, for the grandkids, your kids!! Learn how to do short rows, buttonholes and cables all in the same class. Made in cotton! They are washable, dryable, colorful and creative!!

Ribbon Evening Bag

Beautiful, silky, sparkly ribbon make up this chic evening bag. Great for holiday parties, evenings out or any special occasion. Learn the “loop” stitch while making this bag. After you make your bag use the same stitch technique to make scarves and pillows. Sample on display at the store.

Socks on Circular Needles

August 30 & September 6, Saturday 9–11
Socks Rock! Come learn how to knit socks on two circular needles. We will knit a traditional sock starting with the cuff and working down. Socks are fun, portable, and unique! Come join the latest knitting craze!

Swirl Shawl

Everyone’s knitting lace. Learn to knit this stunning lace hexagon swirl shawl. This shawl is a showstopper. Made in Jo-Jo Land’s ‘Melody’ colors that blend like those in a painting. Sample is on display at the store.

Entrelac Headband

September 25, Thursday 6–9pm
Here’s a great first project to teach you all about Entrelac. You will learn all the proper techniques while knitting this beautiful colorful headband. Entrelac is a technique used to create a textured diamond pattern. While the end-result resembles basket-woven strips of knitted fabric, the actual material comprises interconnected squares on two different orientations. Sample is on display at store.

Invisible Seaming

August 30, Saturday 2–4pm
Learn how to put your knitted pieces together using the proper techniques. You will learn how to weave invisibly on stockinette, reverse stockinette and garter stitch. Learn how to crochet your seams by using the slip stitch, and how to seam vertically and horizontality. Knitters are required to do homework before the class. Bring to class: 4 swatches, each 4” wide x 6” long; work two in stockinette stitch and work two in garter stitch.

Brioche Cable Scarf

September 18, Thursday 6–9pm
Brioche is the name given to the stitch - when worked with a slipped stitch and yarnover - this stitch also had many different names; Prime Rib, shawl stitch, Oriental rib, shaker knitting, just to name a few. Learn how to make this unique double-sided cable scarf; it is unlike any others. Fun, easy and sooooo different. You will get stopped when wearing this one. A sample is on display at the store.

Drop In Project Class On going every Friday morning from 10am – Noon
You can work on the project of your choice! A teacher will be there to guide you, answer questions, give help and teach new things. You will join other students who are at different levels, listening, learning and seeing what they are doing giving you inspiration and motivation. We ask that all yarn and patterns be purchased at Yarning for You.

  • Payment is due upon registration
