Blood Drive

January 25, Tuesday 11 am – 5 pm.

We will kick-off the New Year with an American Red Cross Blood Drive.  Your donated blood is a most needed and valued ‘commodity’. You can make your appointment at our shop or just ‘walk-in’ to give blood.  Stop in at the shop to ‘recover’ or plan to spend some knitting time at that day whether or not you give blood. Those who donate will value your support! Location: Red Cross bus in the YfY parking lot.

Divas Book Club

Jan 26 & Feb 23 Wednesdays, 6 – 8 pm.

Join us every 4th Wednesday of the month for a discussion and some knitting…what more could a Diva ask for?  Just visit our website for a list of our book selections and more information about the Book Club!

K2tog Socials

Tuesdays, 1 – 4 pm.

Join others for a few hours of knitting, sharing, laughing and enjoying our addiction together --- every Tuesday afternoon!

You are welcome every 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month. This is your night to drop everything and come relax and knit with us. The shop is open for customers during Knitters Anonymous evenings.

 

Knit Fix

January 15, Saturday, 10 am – noon

Do you know how to rip?  Frog?  Fix mistakes?  Tink?  Fix dropped stitches?  Take this class and you will be able to identify mistakes and fix them without aggravation and frustration.  Learn the anatomy of stitches, how to fix them and much more!!  Homework is required prior to class. 

Class Fee:  $25/2 hrs

 

 

Basic Blocking

January 15, Saturday, 2 pm – 4 pm or

February 26, Saturday, 2 pm – 4 pm

You’ve heard of blocking, but have you tried it yet?  This class will cover the basics of blocking so you can learn why, how and when to block.  No more mystery about blocking – you’ll learn how to give that finished look to your work.  The class will feature a hands-on exercise and it is open to all skill levels.

Class Fee:  $25/2 hrs

Twin Leaf Scarf

January 18 & 25, Tuesdays, 6 pm – 7:30 pm

Cascading twin leaves bordered by a perimeter of seed stitching makes the twin leaf scarf a true classic. The pattern is written with easy to follow instructions and a simple lace chart.  This is a great project for those new to lace knitting and chart reading. The results are fantastic and this scarf is a must-have for any wardrobe. See our sample and sign up to knit one for yourself.

 Modern Baby Blanket

January 22, Saturday, 9 am – noon  

I have taken a classic  vintage baby blanket, polished it up, colored it up and chunked it up…the result is a unique visual work of art. With chunky yarn and size 11 needles, this blanket knits up quickly.  Come learn the fun technique of slip stitching.  Sample on display at the shop. Homework is necessary before class; please see the material list.

 Traditional Socks

Jan 22, 29 & Feb 5, Saturdays, 2 pm – 3:30 pm

Learn to knit socks the traditional way using double pointed needles. You will learn all the basics starting from the beginning ribbed leg, to constructing a heel flap, then turning the heel, on to decreasing the gusset all the way to closing the toe with the kitchner stitch. Come see a sample and join me in my journey “Year of Knitted Socks”.

 Felted Hat

January 29 & February 12, Saturdays, 10 am - 12

The chic “Mad-Hatter” felted hat also features dry felting. This is a rare opportunity to learn all aspects of wet felting and to learn how to dry felt as well! Your new hat will be a great addition to your wardrobe. Come see this one-of-a-kind sample at the shop.

 Double Knitting 101

February 5, Saturday, 9 am – noon

Double knitting?  Yes…double knitting! One color is worked on one side and another color is worked on the other side to create a double layer. Come learn the basics of this mysterious technique. We will learn how to work each side independently at the same time…huh? that’s right…each side independently at the same time with two colors. Ingenious! Challenging! Catch the excitement of double knitting. We will be learning the technique by swatching only. This takes lots of practice but once you learn you’ll be addicted. Bonus…you will also learn the Tubular Cast On. In the next class, Double Knitting 102, you will work a double sided pattern and begin a DK project. Look for it on the next schedule of classes.

 TriKolorful Mitts

February 1, 8 & 15, Tuesdays, 6 pm – 7:30 pm

Begin by choosing three beautiful colors of yarn to create these wonderfully warm mitts.  In this class, you have the choice of designing your very own original color pattern by letting your creative imagination take you to endless possibilities or simply use the original color pattern to make these mitts your own. You will enjoy watching the color work unfold while you knit.  Come see the sample at the shop.

 Textured Horizontal Vertical
Striped Scarf

February 12, Saturday, 1 pm – 3 pm

This is an enjoyable two-color project that has texture, striping and color all in one. Totally reversible, one side of this scarf has horizontal stripes and on the other, vertical. The stitch is fun and engaging. Most importantly, you will learn all the techniques on how to fix this stitch if you make a mistake. You’ll love knitting this scarf! This is a great class for beginners and intermediate skill levels. See sample on display at the shop.

Getting Gauge

February 19, Saturday, 9 am – 11 am

Everything you ever wanted to know about gauge will be answered in this class.  Understanding and “getting gauge” is the most important step for your knitting projects to be successful.  It will also ensure the proper fit of any knitted project.  Understanding gauge will allow you learn how to design your own garments, to substitute alternative yarns, or change the style.  Come to this class and you can say “I get gauge”.  Homework is required prior to class.

 Winter White Scarf

February 19, Saturday, noon – 2 pm

Winter White was created to keep me extra warm during the winter months.   Yarn overs and decreases are used to create a simple yet chic pattern. This is a great project for those who are new to knitting and a great intro to lace knitting.  See our sample at the shop.

Class fee:  $25/2 hrs

Seaming

February 19, Saturday, 2:30 pm – 5 pm

This class will enable you to tackle your-own-finishing-work! Learn how to put your knitted pieces together using the proper techniques. You will learn how to seam invisibly on stockinette, reverse stockinette, and on garter stitch both vertically and horizontally. Learn the 3-needle bind-off, how to crochet your seams by using the slip stitch, and how to weave in those pesky ends. Homework is required.

Class fee:  $30/2.5 hrs

Beautiful Beaded Scarf

February 26, Saturday, 9 am – noon

Combine knitting and beading and make this beautiful beaded scarf.  The compliments will never end while making it and wearing it. This one is a must-knit must-have. You will have some prep work to do before the class and you must pick up a supply list and meet with the instructor before the class. See our sample at the shop.

Drop In Project Class

Friday mornings: 10 am – noon

Drop in on any Friday morning to work on the project of your choice!  A teacher will be there to guide you, answer questions, give help and teach new things.  You will join other students who are at different levels, listening, learning and seeing what they are doing giving you inspiration and motivation. 

Class fee:  $12/2 hrs

Learn to Knit

Want to learn to knit?  We will get you started and teach you the basics: cast on, knit, purl, bind off, increases, decreases and more!  Come join the fun.  We ask that classes be completed within a four-week period.

Class fee:  $50/3 - 1.5 hour sessions
